If you are self employed have you told the taxman?

Have you declared all your income on your tax returns?

If the answer is no to either of these questions then you have an opportunity to come clean by taking advantage of the Plumbers Tax Safe Plan (PTSP).

You will have to pay tax, interest and penalties on any late or under declared income but the penalty will be less than if the taxman comes after you rather than you going to him.

Chances of the taxman finding you? Definitely if you are registered with your trade body as HMRC has the membership lists.

You need to notify HMRC that you are going to make a disclosure by 31.5.2011.
